2025 fantasy impact on Buccaneers receivers with Mike Evans gone

The once-deep Buccaneers receiving corps suddenly has an open hole. Mike Evans’ move to San Francisco marks the end of an era in Tampa Bay, where Evans dominated for the better part of a decade. What impact will his departure have on the fantasy values of the Bucs’ remaining starting receivers?

Deep receiving corps are rough on fantasy managers, so this is good news for those who like predictable production. (And really, who doesn’t like predictable production?) Chris Godwin is the biggest winner. He was already starting to edge past Evans in 2024 before injuries upended his availability. That carried over into last season. His relative value hasn’t been this low since 2018. Assuming his WR ADP is outside the top 20 (a safe bet), Godwin would be a must-draft bargain.

Emeka Egbuka also has nowhere to go but up. The 2025 first-round pick dominated for much of the first half of the season, racking up nearly 700 receiving yards and six scores. Managers are more likely to remember his second-half collapse. But that was due largely to Godwin’s Week 12 return after missing most of the season, followed by Evans’ Week 15 return (again, after missing most of the season). So, of course, Egbuka regressed once everyone got healthy. In a more streamlined passing attack, Egbuka should settle into more of a rhythm as a potential co-alpha. If his WR ADP is outside the top 28, he’ll be a must-get -- though I suspect the market will start him off ahead of Godwin.

Meanwhile, TE Cade Otton is the prototypical situational fantasy star. When injuries hit his WR teammates, Otton frequently steps up, thanks in large part to a sizable jump in targets. As long as Godwin and Egbuka are on the field, Otton will remain a fringe streamer. But in Best Ball or very deep leagues, he’ll be a must-draft TE for those wisely betting that both Godwin and Egbuka presumably won’t start all 17 games.
