3 Colts players to start/sit in fantasy football vs. Dolphins
The Indianapolis Colts open up the 2025 regular season at home against the Miami Dolphins, and with the NFL back, it's time to focus on our fantasy football lineups, specifically who we should be starting and who we should be sitting.
So, given the matchup at hand for Indianapolis, here are two players to start vs. the Dolphins and one player to sit.
Start: RB Jonathan Taylor
The Dolphins' front seven is going to pose a challenge for the Colts' offensive line and run game. Shane Steichen discussed earlier this week how stout that unit is.
But with that said, while that might be true, we know that Taylor is going to be a focal point for the Colts' offense. As he goes, this offense goes, and his success is vital for this Colts team.
The yards may not come easily at times, but the opportunities will be there for Taylor.
Sit: WR Alec Pierce
Pierce emerged last season as one of the game's most productive downfield targets, averaging a league-best 22.3 yards per catch. This also could be shaping up to be a favorable matchup against a Dolphins' cornerback unit with question marks.
However, one of the issues that the Giants' offense faced with Daniel Jones leading the way was generating explosive passing plays. Between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Jones has averaged 5.9 yards per pass attempt, which for some context, would have ranked 41st last season out of 44 eligible quarterbacks last year.
Perhaps that won't be an issue for Jones with the Colts, but we need to see it first.
Start: WR Josh Downs
Downs has been a go-to target in the passing game his first two seasons, but with Jones at the helm, he could see even more opportunities coming his way this season.
Couple that with the uncertainties that the Dolphins have at cornerback, and Downs could be in store for a big day in Week 1.
