Among the rumors around the NFL over the past year, Brandon Aiyuk playing for the Washington Commanders has been just as prevalent as any other.
The San Francisco 49ers are certainly going to move on from him, though it remains uncertain when the organization is going to do so. It feels like it will happen after the draft, but nothing is set in stone just yet. In a recent trade idea, the 49ers would do just that in a deal with the Commanders. The trade wouldn't exactly get a great return, but it's better than nothing at this point.
Commanders Get: Brandon Aiyuk, Sixth Round Pick
49ers Get: Fourth Round Pick, Seventh Round Pick
“At this point, the 49ers have to get what they can get for Aiyuk. The situation appears to be damaged beyond repair. It would be a shock if they got anything higher than a fourth-round pick,” Mark Morales-Smith of SI wrote.
It's unfortunate that the 49ers and Aiyuk have gotten to this point, but it's just the reality of the situation. The 49ers might even be a tad lucky to get two picks in return, as teams understand that San Francisco doesn't want him on the roster. That's something that the 49ers front office will have to navigate in any trade talks.
