5 Steelers storylines for the 2025 NFL draft
The 2025 NFL draft is finally here and all the waiting is going to finally pay off for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are in a position to upgrade several roster spots via the draft but we are still in the dark as to which one will be the top priority on Thursday night. Here are our big Steelers NFL draft storylines to watch this weekend.
Will Tomlin get his way?
Head coach Mike Tomlin obviously wants quarterback Shedeur Sanders but it feels like the organization isn't so sure. They would be happier with a defensive lineman or running back, perhaps. Which side of this debate will get their way?
The next Jaylen Warren
Pittsburgh signed Jaylen Warren as an undrafted free agent and he's in line to start this season. Meanwhile, former second-round running back Najee Harris has moved on. Will this impact how early the Steelers go for a running back in what is shaping up to be an elite class?
No nose? Really?
We have to admit it broke our hearts to hear Tomlin say that the nose tackle is going the way of the dinosaurs. This group has so many good run stuffers we hope this is just a smokescreen and the Steelers will still take one.
How about those trades?
Once the first round starts, guys like wide receiver George Pickens and maybe even edge defender T.J. Watt could get shopped. We don't expect anything until after the team makes its first-round pick and will be based heavily on who lands at No. 21.
If not Sanders, who?
Let's say Sanders comes off the board ahead of the Steelers pick, what's next? Do they pull the trigger on Jaxson Dart or Jalen Milroe? Or do they pass on a quarterback completely on Day One and just see what's left on Friday night?
