76ers' Joel Embiid ranked No. 47 in the league heading into new season

Everybody knows how fantastic Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid is when he is right and healthy. There aren't many in this league who can slow down the big fella when he gets into a groove. It's why he's considered one of the dominant players in the league and won an MVP award in 2023.

However, limited by a severe knee injury, Embiid only played in 19 games in the 2024-25 season. He was nowhere near his normal self as he averaged 23.8 points, but shot only 44.4% from the floor, 29.9% from deep, and only got to the foul line 8.9 times. It was obvious that he was not anywhere near fully healthy and he underwent knee surgery in April.

ESPN ranked the top 100 players in the league and Embiid comes in ranked No. 47 for the new season:

It is almost impossible to rank Embiid after the former MVP played just 19 games last season. If he is back and healthy, he's obviously a top-10-caliber player, as he was for several seasons prior to 2024-25. But that's a very big if, particularly after how the past 18 months or so have gone in Philly.

If the videos are any indication, Embiid looks like he is on his way back to being healthy again. He looks slim and is moving well in offseason workouts with the Sixers and one has to believe he will be out there when training camp begins on Sep. 27.
