Another big update on Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers QB situation

The big news keeps coming for the Pittsburgh Steelers and their quarterback position. First NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero reported that there was no chance free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers would be signing with the Steelers before the start of the 2026 NFL draft.

Now, ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter is not only corroborating Pelissero's report but taking it a step further as far as the quarterback position goes. According to Schefter, not only will Rodgers not be there, but it will be second-year quarterback Will Howard listed at the No. 1 quarterback. Schefter made no mention of veteran quarterback Mason Rudolph.

New Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy as well as new offensive coordinator Brian Angelichio have praised Howard and both guys seem excited about seeing what he can do. Does this mean the Steelers don't want Rodgers back? Of course not. But their confidence in Howard as well as the upcoming draft does mean the pressure isn't there to sit and wait for the veteran quarterback.
