Another Dodgers Exec is Joining the Lakers
The Dodgerification of the Los Angeles Lakers continues.
After Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter purchased the Lakers for $10 billion last year, he began working in some key personnel from the back-to-back World Series champions into the Lakers front office.
Two Los Angeles Dodgers executives, Farhan Zaidi and Andrew Friedman, were hired in advisory roles in November, and Dodgers executive Lon Rosen was hired as the new president of business operations last month.
Now, Michael Spetner has been named chief strategy and growth officer for the Lakers after spending a decade with the Dodgers, most recently as vice president of business strategy and analytics, The Athletic‘s Lakers beat reporter Dan Woike posted to social media.
The ties between two of Los Angeles’ premier sports franchises continue to grow stronger under shared ownership.
Now, Lakers fans will have to see if the Purple and Gold can follow in the Dodgers’ footsteps in becoming a dynasty.
Both teams won their respective championships in 2020, but since then, the Lakers have struggled to recapture that magic.
They were eliminated in the first round or failed to make the playoffs in every year except 2023.
That season, they made the Western Conference finals but were swept by the Denver Nuggets.
The Dodgers, meanwhile, made the playoffs every season and captured back-to-back championships in 2024 and 2025.
