NEWTON — The Lady Dutch offense was booming on Monday night in a doubleheader sweep over Newton.
Game one saw Pella explode for nine runs in the first inning on their way to a run rule victory in four innings.
Pella hit three homers in the contest with Emma Eekhoff going 2-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBIs. Katie Scheckel added one home run and three RBIs while Madison Keske went 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Avery Parks and Elizabeth Thomas also had one RBI.
Eekhoff pitched all four innings allowing just three hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.
Game two saw Pella get out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning before they would start to trade runs with the Cardinals, who fought back to tie things up at 5-5 in the third. Pella would then score twice in the fifth and three in the seventh to finish off the sweep.
Eekhoff homered again and had two RBIs. Bray-Lynne Van Zante and Keske both had two RBIs while Lucy Carlson, Riley Parks and Thomas all drove in one.
Eekhoff pitched three shutout innings in relief to get the win. She did not allow a hit and would strike out five.
No. 13 Pella (3-3, 2-1 LHC) returns home to face Boone (5-2) on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

GRIMES — The Indians were shutout twice in a pair of road conference games at No. 10 Dallas Center-Grimes on Monday.
The Mustangs belted three home runs in game one led by two homers coming from Jenah Gray. DCG used a seven-run third inning to take game two. The Osky bats were held to just five hits over the two losses.
Oskaloosa (2-5, 0-2 LHC) heads to Knoxville (0-3) for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

PELLA — The Pella Christian softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Norwalk on Monday night.
Game one saw the Warriors use an eight-run fifth inning to activate the run rule. Norwalk’s top two hitters of Nyah Hulbert and Bailey Birmingham combined to go 4-for-8 with four home runs and 10 RBIs.
Game two saw Norwalk jump out early with eight runs in the first and another four in the third on their way to closing out the sweep. Hulbert continued her big night going 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs and six RBIs.
Pella Christian (0-6, 0-5 LHC) hits the road to face Albia () on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

NEWTON — The Dutch got back to their winning ways with a pair of double digit wins over Newton on Monday night.
Game one saw Pella lead 3-0 after the first inning before adding nine more runs over the final four innings of play to blow things open.
The Dutch had similar success in game two as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first and continued to add on before hitting the run rule in the fifth.
No. 4 Pella (7-3, 3-2 LHC) stays on the road with a trip to Norwalk (5-4, 4-0 LHC) Wednesday at 7 p.m.

GRIMES — The Indians dropped a pair of games at Dallas Center-Grimes on Monday to open up conference play.
The Mustang bats could not be slowed down in game one as they rattled off 19 runs over the first four innings to win by run rule.
Osky played a much better game in game two as DCG got out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Indians would take the lead in the sixth after plating two. The Mustangs answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie it back up at 2-2 before hitting a three run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh.
Oskaloosa (7-3, 1-2 LHC) is set to host Newton (3-6, 1-4 LHC) on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

PELLA — It was a couple of tough losses for Pella Christian as they would fall in a doubleheader against Norwalk on Monday.
The Warriors held a modest 3-0 lead after two innings but would break through with nine in the third and four in the fifth to hit the run rule.
Logan Gallaher led the PC bats with one RBI while Grant Kelderman and Eliot Menninga both hit doubles. Brecken Ritzert was hit with the loss after allowing 12 runs, seven earned, on eight hits with five walks and six strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings.
Game two played closer than the final score with the Eagles gaining a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Norwalk eventually tied it in the fourth but the game remained tied at 1-1 going into extras where the Warriors would bring home six runs in the eighth inning to get the win.
The PC bats were able to draw seven walks but were held to just one hit while striking out 14 times. Connor Van Zee had the lone hit while Ritzert drew three walks. Kelderman pitched 5 1/3 strong innings allowing just one run on two hits with 11 Ks in the loss.
Pella Christian (1-7) is set to travel to Centerville (4-6) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
