Arizona Cardinals' latest OL addition doesn't address big need

One of the Arizona Cardinals' additions in free agency was reported on Tuesday, a one-year contract for former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Matt Pryor. Initial reactions were that the Cardinals had gotten their right tackle to replace Jonah Williams. Others wondered if he might be slotted in as a starting guard.

He has 40 starts in his career, 25 at guard, and he was the Chicago Bears' starting right guard in 2024.

However, with news of how much his one-year contract is, there should be no expectations of starting.

Pryor got a one-year league-minimum deal worth less than $1.3 million.

Pryor is an experienced veteran and has played everywhere on the offensive line but center. He has played in 109 games in his career, starting 40.

But he shouldn't be projected as an answer for the Cardinals' current hole at right tackle or potentially at guard. He can start, but he isn't being counted on to do more than compete for a roster spot.
