Speaking last month, the winger admitted he was open to a move on loan, saying, “I’m obviously going to speak to people to see what the best thing is for me.
“I’ve had loan experiences out with Swansea [City] and Shrewsbury [Town]. There were learning curves really, and I really enjoyed my time over there.
“So I’m going to have a look and speak to people if that’s the option and the right move, and I’m just going to keep my head down in training, keep on working hard and applying myself.
“If something comes about from a loan perspective that I like, I’ll take that opportunity and explore it.”
Speaking after his loan was confirmed, he
, ” It feels great to be here and I am really excited to get started, start training and get to know my new teammates. I am looking forward to showing my qualities on the pitch and helping to win matches.
“This is a good step for me and my continued career. After the conversations with the sports director and the management staff, I got a strong feeling that this was the right environment for me. Now I want to take advantage of the opportunity and help the team achieve good results in Allsvenskan.”
Mats Winblad, Sports Director Kalmar FF, added, “Great that he is finally in place! Charles is a player we have followed for a long time. He is very athletic, has really good speed and likes to drive the ball at high speed and challenge his opponent. Now he is stepping into training and hopefully we will see him in the game already on Saturday against IFK Norrköping.”
You can watch his first interview in full on the official Kalmarff site.
The 21-year-old joined Arsenal’s academy from Fulham in July 2015 and signed his first professional contract in July 2022.
He has made a strong start to the current season at under-21 level, registering five goals and seven assists across 14 appearances in Premier League 2 and the Vertu Trophy, performances that earned him a place on the bench during Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League win away to Slavia Prague in November 2025.
Sagoe Jr made his senior debut for Arsenal in September 2023 against Brentford in the Carabao Cup and spent last season gaining further experience on loan with Swansea City in the Championship and Shrewsbury Town in League One.
His move to Kalmar provides another opportunity for regular senior football with a future at Arsenal looking increasingly unlikely.
