Auburn football gets Jase Mathews, 4-star wide receiver out of Greene County

Greene County wide receiver Jase Mathews committed to Auburn football on Aug. 8, making the announcement at Greene County High School.

He is a four-star player in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is ranked as the No. 13 overall wide receiver and the No. 6 player in Mississippi.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wide receiver chose Auburn over Ole Miss, LSU and Texas A&M. He also held offers from Mississippi State and Southern Miss, among others.

"Jase is a humble and committed star who works daily to become the best he can be," Greene County coach Larry Dolan told The Clarion Ledger. "I haven’t seen him have a bad day yet."

Mathews joins DeSoto Central’s Eric Perry as the only commits from the state to join Auburn. Perry committed on June 9.

The senior had 68 receptions for 1,138 yards with 15 touchdowns in 10 games last season.

Greene County begins its 2025 season in MHSAA 4A on Aug. 29 against East Central.
