Barcelona will wait until the summer to hold talks over permanent signing of forward

Marcus Rashford has been a hot topic at Barcelona lately, especially after his tremendous performance against Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League.

Although the Englishman was benched in the subsequent clash for coming to training late, it appears he has finally found some form after a slow start to the season.

With Gavi and Fermin Lopez out injured, the role of Rashford could even become more important in the coming months.

Barcelona not talking about permanent move yet

With this backdrop, it is only natural for one to expect Barcelona to start thinking about turning Rashford’s loan deal into a permanent one.

Given the forward’s recent performances, the club, after all, have a glorious market opportunity to sign an experienced forward for just €30 million next summer.

However, according to Sky Sports, Barcelona have no plans to kickstart negotiations regarding Rashford’s contract anytime soon.

In fact, talks over a permanent move for the English international are unlikely to take place until the summer, once the season has ended.

This is in line with Barcelona’s pragmatic approach, with the club keen on seeing whether or not Rashford can sustain his consistency throughout the season.

It can serve as a motivational factor for Rashford, too, as the player would be keen on convincing Barcelona to make his move permanent by performing well all throughout the season.

For now, though, Rashford’s focus should be on Barcelona’s upcoming matches, with the Catalans slated to face Real Oviedo this midweek before closing the weekend with a home game against Real Sociedad, which will be played at Montjuic.
