The Chicago Bears are coming off a great 2025 season. But with some tighter cap space, the Bears will need to move on from some veterans. Cole Kmet is one such trade option, but another player is a much more interesting trade chip.
That player is veteran linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The Bears granted him and his agent permission to seek a trade, but with the Bears expected to cut him if needed, there's a chance that the Bears don't find a trade partner for Edmunds.
However, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Bears might actually be able to find a trade for Edmunds, as the 27-year-old linebacker has a "decent" chance of being dealt this offseason.
Bears get good news on Tremaine Edmunds trade market
"One player who has strong trade value and a decent chance to be dealt is Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds," Fowler writes. "The Titans, Raiders, and Giants are among teams interested in high-end linebackers, and they like Edmunds, who's only 27 despite eight years in the league."
While the Bears easily could've released Edmunds and a team that's interested could sign him to a veteran minimum contract, thanks to strong interest, the Bears might be able to land a return for a player they otherwise would've cut.

Edmunds will be 28 years old in 2026 and will be in his ninth NFL season. He's started 119 games the last eight years, recording 14 interceptions (one pick-six), 59 passes defended, four forced fumbles, 8.5 sacks, 900 tackles, 43 tackles for loss, and 24 QB hits.
The two-time Pro Bowler is a great linebacker still, but the Bears are looking to save some money. Edmunds' departure would bring $15 million in savings, making his release or trade a very likely outcome.
This report from Fowler is great news, as if the Bears can add any value in return for Edmunds in a trade, it would be a massive win.
