Bengals, Bears' Khalil Herbert trade finalized during NFL draft

The Cincinnati Bengals' trade with the Chicago Bears at last year's NFL trade deadline saw the final piece of the puzzle slot into place during the 2025 NFL draft.

There, the Chicago Bears used the No. 233 pick in the seventh round that was originally Cincinnati's on Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai.

The Bengals made that rare in-season trade in response to the season-ending injury to Zack Moss. Herbert carried the ball 28 times over eight appearances, then signed with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency this offseason.

Maybe the Bengals would've waited until Round 7 to grab a running back if they had still owned their pick. Instead, they grabbed Tahj Brooks at No. 193 in the sixth round.

Overall, it didn't appear to have that big of an impact on things, especially considering the Bengals got some major wins at positions of need in undrafted free agency anyway.
