"I wouldn't say the Buffalo Bills in general haven't had an edge, but there are certain personalities that I was looking for," Brady said. "You have to find a happy medium, right? You want to find some guys on your team that are, you know, call it—they check all the boxes. You want some guys that are gonna stir the locker room a little bit."

The free-agent signing of defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson, a versatile and talented defender who is known for playing with that edge, is one of the notable signings that support this shift.

For a team that could use that in crucial moments, adding Gardner-Johnson brings a proven track record of on-field production and a confrontational style that Brady is now openly courting, a clear signal that talent and attitude are being weighed more heavily.

It marks a departure from head coach Sean McDermott's years, in which the front office passed on elite talents for different reasons.

Brady confirmed this shift.

"I told [Brandon Beane] when we went through this process, let's not take anyone out of an evaluation just because of their background," he continued. "Let's talk through it and figure out what their issues might be." It's worth noting this opens up a whole new tier of players for Buffalo to consider.

With the NFL Draft just weeks away, this philosophical change could impact Buffalo's board. The Bills have several areas of need, including edge rusher, linebacker, and wide receiver, and need impact, not merely upside.
