Blue Jay swimmers, divers wrap up busy weekend Saturday

Sep. 13—JAMESTOWN — Jamestown High School was humming with activity on Friday and Saturday.

Particularly, the pool.

The Jamestown High School swimming and diving team hosted the Jamestown Relays on Sept. 12 and the Marney Shirley Invite on Sept. 13. Moorhead won both meets delivering scores of 550 and 570 respectively. Jamestown placed sixth at the Marney Shirley Invite with 148 points. The Jays placed fifth at the Jamestown Relays with 185 points.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Sept. 18 at a meet in Bismarck. The dual is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

"It was a great team effort all around," JHS head coach Ben Smith said. "Our assistant coaches have done a great job training our athletes and it's really fun to see this hard work pay off. From top to bottom we had time drops in the pool and a lot of athletes trying new dives and swim events."

Smith said the Jays' divers shined this weekend.

"They won the diver swimming relay and we had our first state qualifier — Emelia Cramer in 11 dives," Smith said. We are only four weeks into our season and these girls are crushing it, I can't wait to see them continue to work hard in practice and enjoy their success at competition."
