Bob Lemon returning to Kernel girls soccer sidelines as head coach
May 6—MITCHELL — Former Mitchell High School girls soccer coach Bob Lemon is returning to coach the Kernels in 2026, MHS announced on Tuesday.
Lemon coached the Kernels' girls soccer team for six seasons from 2017 to 2022, before stepping down from the role. Mitchell was 36-41-6 in that span under Lemon's leadership.
"Bob's experience and history with our program make him an outstanding choice to lead our girls soccer team," MHS Activities Director Cory Aadland said in a press release. "He has long been a respected soccer coach within the Mitchell community, and he understands our values while bringing a proven ability to connect with student-athletes and foster a competitive, positive environment."
Mitchell was 5-10 last season and had an overall record of 10-18-1 in two seasons under head coach Kindra Decker, who resigned as coach in January.
Lemon, who teaches science at MHS, has been an assistant coach for the MHS track and field team for the last two seasons. He previously coached boys soccer and track and field at Mitchell Christian.
"I'm grateful to be back with the Kernel girls soccer program and looking forward to reconnecting with our players," Lemon said in a statement. "It's a special opportunity to work with many of them again, and I'm excited to help them make the most of the upcoming season. I'm also looking forward to getting to know the younger players who have joined the program over the past few years and supporting their continued growth."
