Boston Celtics draft prospects: Drake Powell highlights
On Monday, June 23, the Boston Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in return for Anfernee Simons and two future second round picks. The trade came just a few days before the 2025 NBA draft, where the Celtics hold the 28th and 32nd picks. Boston's current guard rotation appears to be set, however, Brad Stevens still has a decision to make regarding the team option on JD Davison's current contract.
Should the Celtics decide to explore the guard pool in the upcoming draft class, Drake Powell could emerge as a standout option in the latter part of the first round. Powell is a one-and-done prospect out of North Carolina. And while Stevens usually prefers players with multiple college seasons under their belt, Powell's 6-foot-6 frame coupled with some impressive physical skills, could entice him to take a swing on potential.
If you haven't seen much of Powell but would like to get a closer look, NBC Sports Boston recently posted a highlight video on their YouTube channel.
