Brackets announced for Bayside South teams in Maryland high school lacrosse playoffs
The postseason has arrived for Maryland's high school spring sports teams in the MPSSAA. And first up to kick off the regional playoffs are the high school lacrosse teams, whose games begin on Wednesday.
In the Bayside South, multiple lacrosse teams will be looking to go deep into the playoffs and make runs toward a state championship. And on Monday, the brackets were released, revealing the playoff pathways for each team.
Here are the playoff paths for the Bayside South's boys and girls lacrosse teams:
Boys Lacrosse
In Class 2A East, the Bayside South champion Stephen Decatur Seahawks received a first-round bye, meaning they were able to bypass the first two rounds of the regional playoffs. The Seahawks will host the 2A East II Regional Final, which they are scheduled to host on May 12.
The Seahawks will face the winner of the regional semifinal battle between Salisbury rivals Parkside and James M. Bennett. Parkside is the higher seed in this game, and will host Bennett in the regional semifinal on Friday, May 9.
Girls Lacrosse
Similar to the boys bracket for Bayside South teams, the Bayside South Champion Stephen Decatur Seahawks also received the No. 1 seed in the girls lacrosse 2A East II Region, and will receive a bye in the first two rounds of the regional playoffs before hosting the regional final next week. After playing in the Bayside Championship game on Monday, the Seahawks will have a week off until their regional final battle against one of two Bayside South rivals.
In girls lacrosse, the Bennett Clippers finished with a higher seeding than Parkside, meaning that Bennett will host Parkside on Friday, May 9. The winner will advance to the regional final to play Decatur.
