Breaking down the Steelers picks in new 3-round mock draft
All signs point to the Pittsburgh Steelers using a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft on a quarterback. Pittsburgh signed quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason in an attempt to add some punch to the offense but he is a one-year stopgap who makes the team competitive but far from a Super Bowl contender. The latest three-round mock draft from Pro Football Network lands the Steelers their potential franchise signal caller and more to help get the offense on track. Let's take a look at the picks.
First round - QB Drew Allar - Penn State
There is going to be a run on quarterbacks in 2026 so Allar lasting until No. 19 would be a great deal. In this mock, Indiana's Fernando Mendoza is going in the second round but we feel like by the time the draft gets here, he's going to be right in there with the best of this class and a great option as well.
Second round - WR Eric Singleton Jr. - Auburn
Singleton is a burner whose profile lines up very similar to current Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III. If Austin has a breakout season as a starter, this pick won't make any sense and Singleton's tweener status as a boundary receiver makes the pick a less-than-great fit for Pittsburgh. We really like Indiana wide receiver Elijah Sarratt in this spot.
Third round - S Michael Taafee - Texas
We really like Taafee, especially if the Steelers choose to part ways with DeShon Elliott or Minkah Fitzpatrick in the next offseason. Taffee has a high football IQ, lots of leadership skills and underrated physicality. Great pick here.
Third round - OL Connor Lew - Auburn
Lew projects as a center in the NFL and a good one, but this doesn't help the Steelers, who already have Zach Frazier in place. If the Steelers wanted the best player on the board to fill a need, go for Michigan running back Justin Haynes to potentially replace Jaylen Warren. If you want an offensive lineman who might help, go with Texas A&M offensive tackle Trey Zuhn III.
