đ¨BREAKING: Liverpool sign teenage Football League star
Liverpool have officially completed the transfer of 17âyearâold striker Will Wright from Salford City.
The teenager has taken up an initial three-year contract and will begin life at Anfield within Rob Pageâs Underâ21 squad.
Wright impressed Salford by scoring more than 50 goals across youth and B team levels last season and made his senior debut in a defeat to Port Vale in February.
Despite high-level interestâwith Arsenal reportedly offering up to ÂŁ250,000 plus add-onsâWright chose Liverpool, who agreed a fee of around ÂŁ200,000 plus potential bonuses, matching the playerâs preference to remain in the North West.
Although Wright is unlikely to feature in the senior side during the 2025â26 season, he will also be eligible to represent Liverpoolâs Underâ19s in the UEFA Youth League, offering valuable exposure on a continental stage.
Liverpoolâs latest move underscores their longâterm strategy of investing early in highâceiling prospects. Wright joins the growing cohort of youth signings aimed at shaping the clubâs future, following in the footsteps of academy talents such as Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.
As the youngster settles in, all eyes will be on how he develops within one of Englandâs most renowned youth systems. Supporters will hope this represents the start of another success story for Liverpoolâs academy.
