Brian Branch placed on injured reserve Saturday, Shane Zylstra activated

The Lions officially placed safety Brian Branch on injured reserve Saturday among a number of roster moves announced Saturday.

The move was a formality with Branch already out for the season with a torn Achilles. Saturday is a typical day for roster moves so the timing made sense for the Lions as they shuffle their roster some.

While Branch was put on injured reserve, the Lions activated tight end Shane Zylstra from injured reserve. Zylstra has been dealing with a knee injury since Week 2. (Edit: this is a correction from a previous post which incorrectly posted that Zylstra was placed on injured reserve. The error has been fixed to correctly show that Zylstra is now off injured reserve.)

Detroit elevated tight end Giovanni Ricci and safety Erick Hallett from the practice squad to the active roster.
