Browns cornerback Denzel Ward secured his first interception of the 2025 season
Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward secured the first turnover of the day for Cleveland with his third-quarter interception against the Detroit Lions.
The Browns defense has had an up-and-down day defending the passing attack of the Lions. On Detroit’s first drive of the second half, Ward quickly changed that narrative with a much-needed interception of quarterback Jared Goff. He picked off the deep pass at the Browns’ 45-yard line on a ball intended for wide receiver Jameson Williams. It was the 18th interception of Ward’s eight-year NFL career and his first of the 2025 season.
Cleveland’s defense has been lackluster against the pass, which shows in the current 20-7 score during this Week 4 matchup with the Lions. If the Browns want a chance to win, the defense will need to continue making game-changing plays that the offense has been unable to provide so far. We’ll see if the Browns can make this turnover matter by adding some points to the scoreboard and inching closer to the Lions’ lead.
