Browns: Shedeur Sanders tops all rookies in jersey sales after 2025 NFL draft slide
It’s not often a fifth-round pick will make an immediate impact on fans, but that is the status quo for Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders.
According to Fanatics, Sanders has the top-selling rookie jersey of the class despite Cam Ward and Travis Hunter having a two-day head start on sales, and without Sanders having an official number yet on pre-orders. The news must come as some solace after his massive slide in the draft, going from an expected first (if not at least second) round pick, down into the fifth, and not even as the Browns' first selection at the position. His status quickly became the story of the draft following two days of waiting and a viral prank phone call. Perhaps it was that anticipation that made his jersey desirable outside of the Cleveland fan base. It would be expected that his jersey would sell well; regardless, the hype that he and his father carried at the University of Colorado alone created expectations that, in hindsight, were unrealistic. But the media rarely had a shortage of things to report on when Sanders was involved, and the draft was no exception. Sanders is the only player with a jersey selling in the top 10 that wasn't selected in the first round, ahead of notable picks like the Las Vegas Raiders' Ashton Jeanty.
Expect more of that attention as fans and the league keep a close eye on the Browns' quarterback battle in training camp. Sanders will compete for the starting position and playing time against veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. While a starter may not be clear early on, there will be little doubt about who will have the most support by the jerseys in the crowd.
