Bucs new OC is already campaigning for a Mike Evans return in 2026

The Bucs are looking to turn the corner on offense in 2026 by pivoting to a younger offensive mind in Zac Robinson. The former college football star turned NFL playcaller comes into the new season with a lot of expectations as he takes over a loaded Bucs' offense on paper.

One of those pieces of the offense remains uncommitted to the 2026 season: Mike Evans. The all-time franchise great is coming off a season in which he was beaten up and missed having 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.

Robinson was asked during his introductory press conference about whether or not he would be advocating for Mike Evans to return in 2026. He answered that question, saying, "Yeah, obviously. Shoot, we've got to work through a lot of things. I have a ton of respect for Mike and his game throughout his career. Obviously, watching from afar, I know he's got to work through a lot of things, but [I] would obviously love an opportunity to work with Mike."

It is worth pointing out that Robinson's son was sporting a Mike Evans jersey at the press conference, so not only does Robinson want him back, but the whole family does.

Evans is the ultimate competitor, and having someone in the locker room advocating for Robinson wouldn't be the worst start to his tenure. It is also worth noting that Baker Mayfield remains connected to Evans, and after a rough year from the former Heisman Trophy winner, he will want his top target back as they look to bounce back in a critical year in 2026.
