Bundesliga Open Thread: Matchday 23
MAINZ, GERMANY - FEBRUARY 20: Miro Muheim of Hamburger SV challenges Lee Jae-Sung of 1.FSV Mainz 05 during the Bundesliga match between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Hamburger SV at MEWA Arena on February 20, 2026 in Mainz, Germany. (Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images) | Getty Images

A little late on the thread tonight, but better late than never. I spent most of the day fixing some very silly issues with Predicting Ball. You fix one thing, then it breaks something else. But it’s fixed now! I’m sure you’re all outraged that you had nowhere to discuss the exciting 1-1 between Mainz and Hamburg.

Anyway, here is the rest of this weekend’s Bundesliga schedule:

Friday:

  • Mainz vs Hamburger SV

Saturday:

  • Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt
  • FC Köln vs Hoffenheim
  • Union Berlin vs Bayer Leverkusen
  • Wolfsburg vs Augsburg
  • RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund

Sunday:

  • Freiburg vs Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • St. Pauli vs Werder Bremen
  • Heidenheim vs VfB Stuttgart

The same rules apply as the BVB match threads, though I’m hoping tempers are less likely to flare in these threads. But as a reminder, here are the match thread rules:

  1. Exercise common sense. We allow profanity, adult humor, and other forms of crudeness within reason, but of course there are lines. Hateful language will not be tolerated. Exceptionally violent language (especially directed at specific people) will not be tolerated. Before you type, ask yourself, “Would I have a reasonable expectation of being thrown out of a bar in an average city if I said something like this?”
  2. Be respectful. There will definitely be times when everyone is upset and disagreements get heated, and that’s fine, but remember that we’re all rooting for the same team. Keep arguments based on substance and not personal insults.
  3. No sharing illegal streams. NONE. Zero tolerance.
  4. No spam. I have no interest in whatever crypto scheme you’re shilling. You will be banned.

Enjoy the game! Heja BVB!
