Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier hilariously traded WNBA All-Star Game coaches without permission

During Tuesday night's 2025 WNBA All-Star Game captain's draft, Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx superstar forward Napheesa Collier pulled a fast one on the WNBA and ESPN.

Out of nowhere, Clark and Collier traded All-Star Game coaches during the broadcast. Clark swapped Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve with Collier for New York Liberty coach Sandy Brondello. That way, Collier could keep her Minnesota coach and Clark in turn got the chance to play for the title-winning Liberty coach.

However, the two apparently didn't notify the WNBA or ESPN about the coaching swap, which is absolutely hilarious.

"I don't know if this is in the rules; I don't really care," Clark said with a smirk before announcing the coaching trade and apologizing to the WNBA and ESPN if the surprise move wasn't in the draft rules.

Of course, the trade got the green light by the WNBA by the end of ESPN's broadcast, and it was the only trade Clark and Collier made after drafting their All-Star rosters.

We're sure the WNBA and ESPN just had to take this in stride, if only because who wants to say no to two of the best players in the WNBA about who coaches their All-Star teams?

We love the WNBA All-Star Game captain's draft anarchy. Hopefully there will be more of this next year.
