Caitlin Clark Had Strong Response for Former Iowa Teammate Kate Martin

Former Iowa Hawkeyes guard Kate Martin will be embarking on a new chapter of her basketball career this season. 

After playing her rookie season in the WNBA with the Las Vegas Aces, Martin will be suiting up for the Golden State Valkyries, a league expansion team. 

Before the season, Martin took to social media, showing off the Media Day photos in her Valkyries uniform, seemingly excited for her second year in the league. 

"Lots of history & lots of fun coming soon #Year2#VsUp," Martin said. 

Upon the release of the post, Martin's former teammate Caitlin Clark shared her response, hyping up the Golden State star. 

"🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Lfg," Clark said.

Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin played alongside each other on the Iowa Hawkeyes' women's basketball team from 2020 to 2024, helping the program earn two trips to the Final Four. 

Martin, who started her journey with the Hawkeyes one year before Clark, finished her five-year career at Iowa posting 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. 

Clark had a generational run during her time with the Iowa Hawkeyes, averaging 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game. 

During her time at Iowa, Clark became the NCAA's all-time leading scorer for both men's and women's basketball, scoring 3,951 points.

Last season with the Las Vegas Aces, Martin posted 2.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. She was active in 34 games and even started two games for Las Vegas during her rookie season.
