Caitlin Clark Issues Strong Statement on Indiana Fever Fans

Caitlin Clark put on a show yet again on Tuesday night. This was the 23-year-old's second game back following a lengthy injury spell and Clark made sure that the fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse got their money's worth.

Clark did not explode for 32 points on Tuesday like she did against the New York Liberty on Saturday. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year had a more subdued performance, finishing with 20 points, six assists and four triples.

The biggest takeaway, however, is that Clark was still able to lead the Fever to an 88-71 victory over the Connecticut Sun in front of a capacity home crowd.

During her postgame press conference, Clark made sure to send a shoutout to the Indiana supporters who came to watch the team play.

“Gotta give our crowd a lot of credit, too," she said. "I thought they were tremendous. They were cheering for us and they had our back.”

Gainbridge Fieldhouse was rocking, and they rallied behind their team during what turned out to be a feisty affair against the Sun. The game had no shortage of action, but the Indiana faithful stood by their team every step of the way.

Clark spoke openly about how much it means to her to play for the fans.

"Everybody knows that's how I play. I want the crowd behind me," she said. "They love when I get into it with them, too. They're here for a show, and that's what I try to give them every single night. That's what we try to give them every single night and that's what makes it fun."

The former Iowa star also pointed out how the fans packed the stadium on a random Tuesday night. For her part, she just wants to make sure that she's able to give them a show they deserve.

"People spend a lot of money and time to come to these games," she continued. "... There's so many young girls and young boys. Adults and older men that you know, this might be their first WNBA game ever and you want to perform for them.

"That's one of my favorite parts of getting to go out there and compete every single night. (It's) getting to interact with the fans and be an entertainer in a way."

After back-to-back wins at home, Clark and Co. will now embark on a three-game road trip, which starts on Thursday against the Golden State Valkyries.

It's going to be a tough stretch for the Fever ahead, with five games scheduled in nine days. Four of those will be on the road as well, which means that Clark will be playing in somewhat hostile territory in the coming week or so.
