Caitlin Clark’s Honest Feelings on Taylor Swift Resurface Ahead of 2025 WNBA Season
The Indiana Fever are just four days away from their 2025 season opener against the Chicago Sky, which means for the next four-plus months, all eyes will be on star guard Caitlin Clark.
The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year has had an eventful offseason — one that included turning down a reported $1 million offer to play in the upstart Unrivaled 3-on-3 basketball league and attending Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour,” a Kansas City Chiefs game, the NFL’s annual league meeting with Serena Williams, and the Masters.
Clark also said goodbye to former teammate NaLyssa Smith and head coach Christie Sides, and she welcomed several new teammates including DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, Sophie Cunningham, and Sydney Colson, and a new head coach in Stephanie White.
The 23-year-old Iowa alum is no stranger to the spotlight.
Her face has been plastered on merchandise, billboards, advertisements, and the like for the last few years, and she’s seemingly trending on social media on an almost daily basis.
Clark already had a pretty sizeable fan base, which seems to have grown significantly since she was seen cutting it up with Swift back in January at Arrowhead Stadium. But despite her newfound friendship with the 14-time Grammy winner, Clark recently disclosed during an interview with ESPN’s Alexa Philippou that, to her, Swift is just like any other sports fan.
“I think what people don't always realize about people with a certain spotlight—whether it's her, whether it's me, whether it's another professional athlete or a pop star—we're real people,” Clark said. “We're just having normal conversations as any other person in Arrowhead Stadium that night. She loves the Chiefs just as much as I do.
“I'm talking football with her. She loved it, and just like her passion, and honestly, probably one of the sweetest people I've ever been around. And everybody says that when you meet her, but it's really true. She just treats everybody with the same amount of kindness, and her family was great.”
Clark reiterated the same sentiment back in January during an appearance on the “Swarmcast” podcast, in which she revealed what Swift was really like outside of her usual element as a world-class performer, reminding people that celebrities can be normal people too.
Clark has been a noted Swifty for years, and a Chiefs fan for even longer. Given she’s been to a Chiefs game and appeared on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast all in the last few months, there’s a strong chance Chiefs fans haven’t seen the last of Clark.
