It was a big day for Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark on Sunday. It began with Nike dropping a new commercial featuring her ahead of the Monday release of her Kobe 5 Protro PE sneakers.

Just hours later, Clark was announced as one of two captains for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, which will take place in Indianapolis on July 19. She'll draft her team alongside Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier on July 8.

Following the announcement, the Fever shared a behind-the-scenes video of the moment Clark found out she had been named a captain. WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert called Fever head coach Stephanie White—who was with the team at the time—to deliver the news, prompting a humble smile from Clark as her teammates erupted in cheers.

“Caitlin, I just want to personally congratulate you on being named captain for the 2025 All-Star Game,” Engelbert said. “All the best to the whole team on Tuesday in the Commissioner’s Cup Final.”

Clark, taking a sip from her Gatorade, replied with a smile, “Yeah, we about to get that dub, Cathy!”

Caitlin Clark is now a two-time WNBA All-Star, and for the first time, she’ll serve as a captain—an especially meaningful honor with the game being played on the Fever’s home court at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Despite battling injuries this season—including a five-game absence due to a quad strain and two more missed games with a groin injury—Clark is averaging an impressive 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. The Fever currently sit at 8–8 overall and will compete in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Final on Tuesday night against the Minnesota Lynx.

The team remains hopeful Clark will be ready to return for the championship matchup after being listed day-to-day. If not, her next opportunity to play will come Thursday when Indiana faces the Las Vegas Aces.
