CBS mocks Alabama star to Detroit Lions in NFL draft projection
Will the Detroit Lions look to the Alabama Crimson Tide for an answer up front in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft?
There's been interest between the Lions organization and Alabama star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. The Lions met with Proctor at the NFL Scouting Combine.
At 6-foot-7, 352 pounds, Proctor is a load up front. A five-star recruit out of high school, Proctor was a second-team AP All-American and first-team All-SEC selection last season with the Crimson Tide.
As the draft creeps ever closer, another mock draft projects Proctor to the Lions. CBS' Josh Edwards forecasted Proctor to Detroit.
Giovanni Manu is set to start at left tackle with Taylor Decker and Detroit parting ways. One would imagine Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes seek an alternative at the position. Kadyn Proctor is a big body who does a good job executing some of the blocks in space that the team has executed in the past. - Josh Edwards, CBS
It would likely be free agency signing Larry Borom in a starting capacity opposite Penei Sewell for the Lions if the organization doesn't draft an offensive tackle early in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft. And there's a real possibility that Sewell slides over to left tackle regardless of who the franchise selects in the draft, but everything else Edwards said is true.
The Lions are in need of a long-term answer to pair with Sewell at offensive tackle and reshaping its offensive line has been a focal point of this offseason.
Georgia's Monroe Freeling has been another popular mock to the Lions on potential first-round offensive tackle selections.
