Celtic have completed the signing of defender Maddi Wilde on a loan deal from London City Lionesses until the end of the season.

The Ghirls announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 22-year-old defender initially joined London City Lionesses on loan from former club Bristol City during the 2023/2024 season and she signed for the club on a permanent basis at the end of that campaign. Wilde has played a role in the growth of London City Lionesses and she was a Barclays WSL2 title-winner with the club last seasoon.

Wilde has found minutes in short supply this season and she will now continue her development at Celtic.

After securing a loan move north of the border, Wilde said “I’m really excited to be here at such a massive club. Celtic has so much history about it, and that makes me really excited to get started.

“Grant [Scott] spoke to me about the club, and the ambition, so it was a no-brainer to make the move here.”

Wilde is Celtic’s second signing from the Barclays Women’s Super League this week. The Ghirls have also signed Manchester United defender Evie Rabjohn on a permanent deal.
