Chiefs-Rams trade: KC sends Trent McDuffie to LA for bevy of picks

The Kansas City Chiefs are officially working on revamping their roster after a failed 2025 campaign that saw the team miss the AFC playoffs.

In their first major move of the 2026 offseason, the Chiefs traded star defensive back Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a package of picks that includes the No. 29 selection in April's NFL draft.

McDuffie, who had played in Kansas City since joining the Chiefs as a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, is among the top cornerbacks in the NFL.

NFL insider Adam Schefter took to Twitter on March 4 to give fans a full breakdown of the compensation that Kansas City received in exchange for McDuffie:

Though he is currently set to play on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract in 2026, McDuffie is expected to sign a lucrative extension with Los Angeles that could make him one of the highest-paid defenders in the league.
