Chris Godwin start or sit: Week 13 fantasy football advice
The 6-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the 4-7 Arizona Cardinals as 2.5-point favorites this Sunday. We are still waiting on QB Baker Mayfield’s status, as he suffered a shoulder sprain last week. If Bridgewater does end up starting, it would be a downgrade to the Buccaneers receivers like Chris Godwin, who we will take a look at for fantasy this week. But, it does look like Mayfield has a good chance at toughing through the pain. It will be impossible to know how much it will impact his performance though.
Fantasy Football analysis: Buccaneers, WR, Chris Godwin
Godwin returned from his shin injury last week and wasn’t given a full time role. He ended up just playing on 36% of the snaps, whereas he usually would play around 80%. He caught 2-of-4 targets for nine yards. Of course that isn’t great, but they were playing a tough Rams defense and four targets isn’t awful on 25 snaps. Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters that Godwin would see increased usage moving forward.
So, we have a couple unknowns heading into this matchup. First, will Mayfield or Bridgewater play? Second, will Godwin see a significant uptick in work or will it be more incremental? Add in the Cardinals pass defense being above average against wide receivers, and we’ll need a lot to go right for Godwin to be a good start this week.
