Clear favourite emerges in Barcelona election battle
Barcelona’s presidential race is entering a decisive phase, and the latest data suggests that Joan Laporta is firmly in control.
With under three weeks remaining before members vote to elect the club’s new president, fresh polling indicates that the current leader is in a strong position to secure another mandate.
A survey published by Mundo Deportivo gathered responses from 300 Barça members over the weekend.
The polling was conducted around the Johan Cruyff Stadium and Spotify Camp Nou, before and after fixtures involving Barça Atlètic and the first team.
What was the conclusion?
As such, Laporta attracted 58.66% support among those surveyed, giving him a commanding advantage over the rest of the declared candidates.
At this stage of the campaign, that margin places him comfortably ahead in the race to remain Barcelona president.
His closest challenger is Victor Font, who secured 20.33% backing in the poll, positioning him as the main alternative but still significantly behind Laporta.

Further back is Marc Ciria, who received 7.33%. Xavi Vilajoana currently sits in fourth place with just 1.33% support.
One key detail is the undecided vote. Around 12.33% of respondents, 37 members, stated that they are yet to make up their minds.
Even if that entire bloc were to shift towards the opposition, the combined total would still fall short of Laporta’s current percentage.
However, the political landscape at Barcelona is rarely straightforward. It is important to underline that the poll was completed before a complaint was filed in Spain’s National Court against Laporta and several club executives.
The accusations involve alleged money laundering and improper commissions.
Later, Laporta publicly dismissed the claims as “slander,” while rival groups are calling for greater transparency during the campaign.
