Clemson lands in the Top 12 schools for 5-star defensive back Joshua Dobson

One of the most coveted names in the 2027 recruiting cycle has taken the next step in his process, and Clemson is still very much in the picture.

Joshua Dobson, a five-star defensive back from Catawba Ridge High in Fort Mill, released his Top 12 schools this week. His list includes Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Florida State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Penn State, and in-state rival South Carolina.

At 6-foot-1, Dobson is widely regarded as the best cornerback prospect in the country and sits at No. 5 overall in the 247Sports Composite rankings. With more than 30 scholarship offers on the table, he’s already become one of the most pursued players in the country and headlines South Carolina’s 2027 class.

Clemson was the first program to extend him an offer in this cycle, a move that helped establish a strong connection early. Dobson was back in Death Valley earlier this fall, taking in the Tigers’ season-opening matchup against LSU.

As Dobson works his way through the process, the Tigers will continue to push to keep the state’s top-ranked recruit close to home in orange and white.
