COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Martinez named head coach at UTPB

May 28—UTPB has announced the hiring of David Martinez as the new softball coach.
The announcement came in a press release Wednesday.
Martinez had previously served as head coach at Compass Academy.
Prior to that, he was the head softball coach at Henderson State University from 2021-24.
Martinez served as the interim head coach for the Falcons during the final four games of the 2025 season, replacing AubreeAna Avila-Oropeza who was the UTPB softball coach for only less than a full season.
UTPB is coming off a 9-45 season which included a 4-40 showing in the Lone Star Conference.
