Colorado owns top-20 transfer portal class, per new ESPN ranking
College football's transfer portal closed in January, but even in a short two-week window, several teams completely overhauled their roster. The Colorado Buffaloes would fall into that category, bringing in 40-plus transfers in an attempt to right the ship after a disappointing 3-9 2025 season.
Much has been discussed about the Buffs' transfer portal class, with ESPN's Bill Connelly even ranking it among the top 3 nationally. Craig Haubert, also of ESPN, released his transfer portal rankings on Wednesday, giving Colorado the No. 18 portal class in college football.
He highlighted Texas transfer wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. as coach Deion Sanders' biggest get. Haubert also noted that the addition of safety Boo Carter can be an impact player, with him receiving a fresh start in Boulder.
Where the Buffs stand among Big 12 teams
Among Big 12 programs, Texas Tech (No. 6), Arizona State (No. 13) and Oklahoma State (No. 14) are the only three teams to come in ahead of Colorado.
The Buffs focused heavily on adding proven lower-level players with extensive production rather than Power Four burnouts. It is a new philosophy for the Sanders-led program, but one that, at the very least, seems to be leading to offseason props from the national media.
