Colorado Buffaloes running back Charlie Offerdahl announced his retirement from football on Tuesday. The news was first reported by Boulder Daily Camera's Brian Howell before the start of fall camp.

Offerdahl was the last holdover player on the Buffs roster from the Karl Dorrell era. He was a walk-on in the 2021 class, but earned a scholarship at the end of Deion Sanders‘ first season with Colorado in 2023. The in-state prospect recorded 61 career attempts with 264 yards and one touchdown.

The Colorado rushing attack has been a revolving door over the past four years and has ranked dead last in FBS since Sanders was hired in Boulder. Offerdahl was the only member to stay throughout major transitions to the Buffs offense. Now, Marshall Faulk will be tasked with leading Colorado rushers to be more multi-dimensional without Shedeur Sanders under center.

Offerdahl was an unranked prospect and became a true fan favorite during his time in Boulder. He was a force at Dakota Ridge High School, leading the team to a 23-8 record during his prep career. He recorded 1,584 total yards and 28 total touchdowns for the Eagles.

Colorado will rely on a three-back rotation with Dallan Hayden, DeKalon Taylor, and Micah Welch this year.
