Colts may have new starting offensive lineman for Week 4 game vs. Rams

The Indianapolis Colts might have a new starting right guard for their Week 4 matchup with the LA Rams.

Starting right guard Matt Goncalves was not on the practice field on Friday as he continues to work through a toe injury.

Goncalves hasn't practiced at all this week, which typically isn't a good sign for a player's game day availability.

The Colts' official injury report will be released on Friday afternoon and will contain Goncalves' injury designation.

Tucker went undrafted in 2024 out of Marshall, but would make the Colts' 53-man roster with his training camp and preseason performance that summer.

As a rookie, Tucker would play 464 snaps, filling in for Will Fries at right guard. However, some up and down play from Tucker led to him being benched during the latter portion of the season.

But with a year of experience now under his belt, the Colts are very bullish on where Tucker is at and what he showcased this summer.

"I like where Tucker is at," GM Chris Ballard said before the season. "Tucker's really come along. Being an undrafted guy a year ago, having to be thrown in the mix and start some games. He had some struggles, but bounced back from that. I'm excited for him."

Awaiting the Colts' offensive line this week is a very stout Rams' defensive front, which ranks ninth in ESPN's pass rush win rate and seventh in run stop rate.

An under-the-radar key to the Colts' early success on offense through three games has been the stout play of the offensive line unit, which has helped provide a strong running game to lean on and time in the pocket for Daniel Jones.
