Connecticut Sun reportedly sold to Fertitta family, will relocate to Houston for 2027 season

The Connecticut Sun are headed to Houston.

The Fertitta family reached a deal to purchase the WNBA franchise and are planning to relocate them to Houston, according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou. The team was sold for $300 million.

The Sun will play their final season this summer, and then relocate in time for the 2027 campaign next summer.

It marks the first time that a WNBA team has been based in the city since the Houston Comets. That franchise, one of the original teams in the league, played there from 1997-2008 and won the first four WNBA titles.
