Connor McDavid’s Wife Finally Reacts to Oilers’ Second Straight Stanley Cup Final Loss

Connor McDavid’s Wife Finally Reacts to Oilers’ Second Straight Stanley Cup Final Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Edmonton Oilers were eliminated by the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive year.

After losing in seven games last season following a 3-0 series deficit, they actually held the lead this year after winning Game 1. However, they went on to lose four of the next five games, with their season ending on Tuesday in a 5-1 defeat in Sunrise.

A lot of people expected Oilers star Connor McDavid to finally win the Stanley Cup, especially since both Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby lost their first Final but came back to win it the very next year.

But that didn’t happen this time. McDavid has now scored just once in 13 Stanley Cup Final games, which simply isn't going to cut for a star of his caliber.

On Wednesday, his wife, Lauren Kyle, took to social media to react to the team’s second straight loss. She didn’t use any words, but reposted the Oilers’ "THANK YOU FANS" post and added two emojis.

"💙🧡," Kyle wrote.

McDavid has been vocal about the Stanley Cup being the only thing he cares about. First-year Oilers general manager Stan Bowman shared a conversation he had with the three-time Hart Trophy winner during their first meeting after he was hired.

“The first time I talked to Connor, I went to see him in the summer after I started,” Bowman said. “He talked about… ‘I just want to win the Cup.’ That was it. He didn’t talk about anything else. So this is his singular focus.”
