Success is defined differently for everyone, but when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, it used to be Super Bowls. Now it is "staying around the rim," however, that hasn't yielded anything in three decades.
Now that Brian Schottenheimer is at the helm, he will take charge of a team that was 7-10 last season, and with injuries and the "blow-it-up" concept in full flow, things were just messy.
Now, Schotty and his coaching staff have gone through The Star with a broom and have cleaned it all up. A different energy and vibe have been permeating throughout the building, with the free agent and draft hauls a big reason for optimism.
But that has to translate into something tangible on the field.
For Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, in ranking the new head coaches in order of how successful he thinks they'll be, Schottenheimer comes in at No. 1, and he predicts Dallas to have an 11-6 record.
If we offered Cowboy Nation an 11-6 record right now, we are fairly certain most would take it as a good news prediction.
That would mean playoff football, possibly a division title or close to it, and the Cowboys playing the type of football that lends itself to being an NFC challenger.
Of course, this is just a prediction, and the expectations for Dallas have been at both ends of the spectrum. Another poor season that sees the playoffs missed has been predicted, so too has a playoff run.
So we aren't exactly sure of what to expect from Schottenheimer's Cowboys in 2025, but if it ends with the franchise posting an 11-6 record and returning to the postseason, that'll equate to quite the successful first year for Schotty.
