Dan Quinn reveals how he first heard of Terry McLaurin's trade request

Dan Quinn appreciates how he heard about Terry McLaurin's trade request.

On Saturday, during a meeting with the media, Quinn informed them that McLaurin had first informed Quinn of his decision before making it public. "He let me know that was happening, so I definitely appreciated that."

Quinn also made it clear that, at this point, they are certainly not looking to trade McLaurin. "Look, it's easy. We love Terry. I'm really glad he's here."

Quinn is smart and savvy. He knows McLaurin is under contract for this season, and he needs to get out there with his teammates. So Quinn added next, "Hopefully, he's out practicing soon. We also understand there's a business side to these things. Adam and his side and Terry and his reps are working it through. So, I just kinda stay in that space, recognize both are happening."

Quinn, a second time, expressed he is pleased that McLaurin is not holding out officially. "Like I said, I'm really glad he is here. I love coaching him. But the business side, that's kinda where it is (now). Somebody asked me if this is a distraction. It is not."

In his second head coaching position (Falcons then Commanders), Quinn believes, "Players today are more aware of contracts and things (related) than maybe they used to be. They recognize that business part happens as well. So, for the team, we're just rocking and going and throwing some great practices. For Terry, and the trade request? That's just part of normal business that's happening around the NFL. It's normal, we understand it. We throw our best practices out on the field."

When asked, Quinn insisted he doesn't compare and talk to the players about another man's money. "We don't address it, and this group is tight. Honestly, they're really focused on what they have to do."
