Detroit Lions round out draft haul with Tennessee edge defender Tyre West

Allen Park — The Detroit Lions closed out the 2026 NFL Draft by taking Tennessee edge defender Tyre West with pick No. 222 in the seventh round on Saturday.

West, 23, is another reinforcement for a defensive line that's undergoing a youth movement in this year's draft. Detroit also added edge defender Derrick Moore (Michigan) in Round 2 and took Texas Tech defensive lineman Skyler Gill-Howard in Round 6.

The Lions selected Tennessee defensive lineman Tyre West (42) with their last pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

West has 48 college appearances and five starts, all for the Volunteers. He had 10 sacks and 20½ tackles-for-loss over his college career, including four sacks with 7½ tackles-for-loss last season.
