Diamond Classic postponed again due to forecasted rain
The schedule for the Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic has once again been shifted due to the weather.
The significant percentage of forecasted rain during the window when the May 28 games were scheduled to be played has led to the final set of quarterfinal matchups being pushed back a day.
A matchup between Mason and Portland will now take place at 5 p.m. May 29 at Michigan State's McLane Stadium. The other quarterfinal won't take place due to Portland St. Patrick having a scheduling conflict that has led to it withdrawing from the tournament. That withdrawal has led to Grand Ledge advancing to the semifinals.
The forecasted rain has also shifted the schedule for the Diamond Classic semifinals and finals. The semifinals will now take place Monday, June 2 with Okemos facing either Mason or Portland at 5 p.m. and Williamston and Grand Ledge meeting in the 7 p.m. game. The championship game will take place 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3.
The May 28 postponements mark the third time the tournament has had to shift its schedule due to the weather.
