After losing to the Portland Trail Blazers in the 7th seed vs 8th seed Play-In Tournament game earlier in the week, the Phoenix Suns needed to bounce back. They were playing against the Golden State Warriors on Friday in a do-or-die game, and they dominated.

Dillon Brooks has been one of the Suns' best players this season and is one of the primary reasons behind this run to the postseason. He was extra motivated heading into the game against the Warriors because of his history against the team.

Dillon Brooks had extra motivation against the Warriors

During his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Brooks was already involved in a rivalry with the Warriors. He has always been a vocal player who is not afraid of anyone in the league.

He stepped up to the likes of Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry. Unfortunately, he and the Grizzlies lost to the Warriors, and Brooks also lost to them in the 2025 Playoffs while playing for the Houston Rockets.

Since the Rockets' Game 7 loss, Brooks has been on the path for payback. He wanted to beat the Warriors on the biggest stage, and he was given that opportunity in the Play-In Tournament in a do-or-die game.

"Since last year, Game 7. Me and JG talked about it before the trade happened, and it was poetic that they beat the Clippers, and we lost to Portland, so we had to play an elimination game. We had a great matchup, great plan, great scout, and we followed it all the way through," Brooks said to the Prime Video broadcast after the big win.

As the Suns advance, they will be playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the defending champions. It will be yet another tough series for the Suns, but they will do their best to prove themselves on the big stage after beating the Warriors.
