Dillon Danis books grudge match for first Misfits MMA title defense

Dillon Danis has his first Misfits MMA title defense booked, and it's somewhat of a rematch.

Danis (3-0) is set to fight Anthony Taylor (7-5) in the co-main event of Misfits Boxing: The Fight Before Christmas, which goes down Dec. 20 at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The promotion announced the news Monday.

This won't be the first time these two have traded blows.

Three years ago in November 2022, Danis showed up at a pre-fight event for "DAZN X Series 0003 Misfits Boxing'" and started a scuffle with influencer KSI, who was competing on the card. On his way out, Taylor, an MMA fighter now competing in the influencer scene, went at Danis. "Pretty Boy" infamously got a right hand through the chaotic scrum, sending Danis stumbling back against a pickup truck. They were quickly separated, and the brawl didn't escalate any further.

Danis, a former Conor McGregor training partner who's made a name for himself with his online trash talk, competed this past August, submitting Warren Spencer in just 15 second to win the Misfits MMA title. The fight was contested at 180 pounds. Prior to that, Danis hadn't competed in MMA in more than six years. Danis is 3-0 in MMA, with two of those wins under the Bellator banner.

Taylor, 36, also competed in Bellator, going 1-2. He transitioned from MMA to influencer boxing in 2021 and fought in many of Jake Paul's events. Most recently, Taylor fought former UFC fighter Darren Till in a boxing match at a Misfits Boxing event in January. He lost by sixth-round KO. The bout against Danis will be his first MMA fight in five years.
