Duke Miles injury update, Vanderbilt basketball guard out vs Kentucky

Vanderbilt basketball will be without a key piece as it takes on Kentucky for a matchup at Memorial Gymnasium on Jan. 27.

Duke Miles is out for the contest due to an undisclosed issue, according to the SEC's game day injury report.

Miles is No. 15 Vanderbilt's second-leading scorer this weekend. He averages 16.6 points per game and is also second on the team in assists with 77 after transferring from Oklahoma.

The Commodores (17-3, 4-3 SEC) are already thin in the backcourt with Frankie Collins also out. Collins has not played since a December matchup with Memphis.

Miles being out may necessitate more playing time for Jaylon Dean-Vines, Mike James or Chandler Bing, none of whom have played a ton this season. Vanderbilt has struggled to get production out of its bench this season.

For Kentucky, Kam Williams, Jaland Lowe and Jayden Quaintance are out.
